Blokes in home hell

There has been a sharp increase in the number of male domestic abuse victims coming forward to seek help, a new report has found.

Amen has seen a 28 per cent increase in the number of fellas looking for advice and help after being beaten by a wife, girlfriend or partner.

In its annual report for 2010, out this week, the charity based in Navan, Co. Meath, said 4,683 lads contacted it last year, usually by phone as against 3,644 in 2009.

January and October were the busiest times with around another 600 contacts being made to Amen during those two months.
