Amen seeking help with new book
Amen is seeking help from male victims of domestic abuse with a new book it is hoping to compile. The Navan based group is asking men to submit their experiences for inclusion in the publication which will be written by victims for victims.
Amen Support Services Ltd say this book will be used as a means to further highlight the "plight of men in difficult family situations and also to encourage others to come forward and see that they are not on their own."
This book will be the second of its kind. 'Letters to Amen' was published five years ago and was found to be very useful in helping men in similar situation, as a learning tool for students and in changing the views of sceptics.
Amen provides a confidential helpline, information and support service for male victims of domestic abuse and their children.
Men who have contacted Amen tell of the physical, emotional and psychological abuse they encounter from their female partners. Many men also report that various kinds of false allegations have been made against them and that their children have been alienated from them.
Amen's services include a confidential helpline, information and a support service for victims and information on legal and other remedies available to men who are abused in their homes.
The group also provides practical information on what to do and where to go as well as providing regular support group meetings.
If you have a story you would like to be included in the book, it can be sent through our website www.amen.ie, by email info@amen.ie or by post. All stories will be edited to protect the identity of the victim.
