Most men who join the group have no prior experience of a support group.
Attendance is voluntary. Group meets weekly on a Tuesday, 8pm until 10pm, except during holidays or as announced. Please be punctual.
New members may be nominated by existing members.
There is no charge, but it is customary to leave a donation of ¤5. This latter is subject to member's employment status and is not a condition of attendance.
Tea, coffee, biscuits are provided.
Members of the group share a variety of life experiences, including the pain of unemployment, marital and relationship breakdown, depression, addiction etc.
Your experience, though unique, has probably been encountered in some form by members of the group, who will be a support to you.
From time to time the group may arrange a social outing, bring in expert advice, legal/financial etc, as required, or arrange a weekend seminar.
Confidentiality is vitally important in the group. The group meeting is often referred to as a ³sacred space², a place of intimacy, of risk-taking and of healing. Please use first names only and avoid the temptation to meet outside the group. This is known as forming a sub-group. Remember that the group is not a social club.
The purpose of the group is to rebuild each member so that he can take up his place in life, strengthened and enriched by the experience.
